Update 12/22/11 – If even 1/4 of FBI agents were “as-seen-on-TV” intelligent and ethical, we’d never read headlines as stupefying as “FBI Says Activists Who Investigate Factory Farms Can Be Prosecuted as Terrorists.” While Internet scamsters care the hell out of seniors and the mentally challenged to defraud them with emails like the one I received and posted, the FBI is busy protecting factory farmers from having their sleezy animal cruelty exposed to the public … arrests as “terrorists” for activists that expose animal cruelty, no attention paid whatsoever to very real Internet terrorists. Only-following-orders oafs don’t serve our country; I wish they knew enough to be ashamed and to demand legitimate assignments. (Of course, there has been no response to my contacting the FBI and DoJ; they’ve got animal-torturing factory farmers to protect and serve.)
Although I’m feeling washed-out, I’m not sufficiently beside myself to buy into an emailed death threat. But I’m genuinely concerned for those that might.
This is one of those weeks where I can’t count on what I write being clear, let alone convincing (or free of glaring spelling and grammatical errors despite painstaking proofreading).
The inside of my lower lip has been bitten repeatedly, my rings are misshapen, one of my already seizure-smashed teeth is missing another piece, I’m exhausted despite frequent naps, I hurt all over, I can’t think straight. All these things indicate that nocturnal seizures are on an upswing, which means my stress level is over-the-top.
This time, I can pinpoint when stress went into overload. It happened when the FTC approved LabCorp’s acquisition of Orchid Cellmark, leaving my questions unanswered about the ability to conduct forensic DNA testing ethically or affordably, with tens of thousands of innocents’ freedom at stake.
I can’t allow myself to be embarrassed by what’s beyond my control. It’s time instead to work harder at embarrassing public servants for what is within their control that they refuse to address, year after year, no matter who gets hurt.

Dear FBI and DoJ,
I am writing once again to insist that email scams be stopped, this time copying the FTC, which has allowed Internet Service Providers to become too big to give a damn about customers, as they have most business endeavors.
While the obvious death threat below wasn’t caught by my Earthlink spam folder (like a similar previous life threat), legitimate emails from organizations I’ve been actie [active] with for years often land there. I can have no confidence whatsoever in Earthlink’s filters.
Elderly and mentally challenged individuals may not notice the “undisclosed-recipients” that indicates the death threat email is a mass mailing, and may feel they have to respond to protect their lives. The very same people are the ones that are victimized by Internet financial scams.
Allowing citizens to be harassed in any way in their own homes via services they pay for is ridiculous; allowing vulnerable populations to be exploited via the purchase of a service is unconscionable.
Congress is getting ready to cave in to the requests of the moneyed few to censor the Internet like never before in overprotecting copyrights at the expense of liberties, and I’d bet my biggest Christmas present that the FBI will be quick and merciless in enforcement despite letting predators have at vulnerable populations on a daily basis for as long as the Internet has been open to the public.
Responses to grave concerns expressed to government servants are infrequent, and the most common response I receive is that whatever matter I’m requesting action on is not in their jurisdiction. No attempts are made to find out whose jurisdiction my concerns are within, no matter how serious the request.
There are likely a few unstable people shaking in their shoes right now over receiving this mass-emailed death threat, and there are thousands of unemployed people capable of understanding that mental instability is not a life choice … they would promptly address my concern for those individuals without once considering dismissing it out-of-hand or alternating whining, “That’s not my job.” Either step up, or step aside.
