Mayor Brown asks to discuss LIP directly with feds | jacksonville.com
Add Jacksonville Mayor Alvin Brown to the list of Florida elected officials wanting to speak directly to the federal government about the status of the Low Income Pool program.
Brown wrote a letter to U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia Burwell saying he was concerned about the gridlock in Tallahassee, icy relationships with federal officials and the impact on University of Florida Health Jacksonville if the $2.2 billion LIP program is allowed to expire.
“Jacksonville and other communities with safety-net hospitals must not be held hostage by the actions or inactions of decision-makers in Tallahassee,” Brown wrote.
