Rebel With a Cause: The Sam Simon Story


In late 2012, acclaimed television writer-producer Sam Simon was diagnosed with terminal colorectal cancer. He was given 3-6 months to live. It was then that Simon chose to give away most of his massive fortune to causes he was passionate about, especially those that protect animal rights.

Since then, Simon, who earned acclaim and success as the co-creator of The Simpsons and producing television shows such as Cheers, and The Drew Carey Show, donated vast amounts to groups like PETA, the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, and others.

Simon also founded the Sam Simon Foundation, which helps needy families in Los Angeles, as well as rescues and trains dogs to help veterans.
