George Mallinckrodt sent notification that he will be speaking in the first session of the Criminal Justice Committee.
Details are available at http://www.flsenate.gov/Committees/Show/CJ/.
The session begins at 4 p.m. tomorrow, January 5th, and – via these links – will be televised live, and then available from archives:
Mr. Mallinckrodt worked at Dade Correctional Institution as a psychotherapist in the employ of controversial contractual healthcare provider, Corizon. Please see my previous posts about the experiences that led Mallinckrodt to write Getting Away With Murder, and consider taking the time to watch his appearance on the live link or archive tomorrow … scores of deaths still need to be investigated, and there will be be nothing but reburials of guards’ wrongdoing unless Floridians pay attention and demand accountability.
Many of the dead were serving short sentences for non-violent offenses, including mentally ill Darren Rainey, who was scalded to death by Dade Correctional Institution guards while serving two years for drug possession. It is Mr. Rainey’s face on the cover of Mr. Mallinckrodt’s book.
