.@Aramark: serving maggotty meals to MI & OH inmates is unacceptable.

Ohio and Michigan: Stop Serving Maggots to Prisoners! – The Petition Site

Multiple prisons in both Ohio and Michigan have recently been found with food and serving equipment covered with live maggots. The prisons in question include the Ohio Reformatory for Women at Marysville, which houses most female inmates in the state, and Trumbull Correctional Institute, a facility for low-risk inmates. All of the facilities in question contract with Aramark Correctional Services.

Aramark’s history of serving sickening food to inmates on a contractual basis is lengthy, so is their history of cheating on contracts … providing substandard menu substitutions, not providing the full number of meals, and more.

Studies have shown that prisons can prepare meals less expensively on site. This is – of course – true of privatization across the board … it is impossible to save money while employing more persons than are necessary to provide a public service (including overpaid officers and directors), and topping off unnecessary employees with shareholders expecting a return on their investment.

Please sign the petition from the link above, and share this post so that others can sign, too. Thank you.
