Call him irresponsible, call him unreliable, throw in undependable, too …

Rep. TX Gov. Rick Perry – former Democrat, former secessionist, former Dream Act supporter, etc. – is presently pro-death penalty, but he’ll likely switch sides the minute the polls tell him to.

Until the executed can be formerly dead, the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles is beholden to focus on Perry’s instability when he signs death warrants on clouded convictions.

Dear Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles,

I am writing to insist that you immediately override Gov. Perry’s authorization of Steven Woods’ execution.

The arguments I expressed on August 10th hold true, and it is absolutely up to y’all to prevent Perry’s well-documented instability – former Democrat, former secessionist, former Dream Act supporter, etc. – from causing wrongful deaths.

The second Tuesday in November 2012 is too far away for you to delay even one more day in locating and acting upon your consciences:  grant Steven Woods a pardon based on innocence … send a clear message to Perry that death warrants will not be used as political ploys on your watch.

Dear Members of the Texas Board of Pardons and Parole,

I am writing to ask that you recognize and immediately react to the flaw in the Texas legal system that makes it lawful (although unconstitutional) to execute an innocent.

Steven Woods is scheduled to be executed on September 13th although Marcus Rhodes – after receiving a life sentence for the homicides – freely admitted to having acted alone.  There is no forensic evidence tying Woods to the crimes.

The prosecutors – confident of their lawful (although unconstitutional) immunity from prosecution for misconduct –  falsely claimed that Woods had sexually abused his youngest brother, tortured the family dog, set off homemade bombs on a neighbor’s porch and practiced Satanism.  Satanism is apparently a popular false claim in Texas; it was also leveled at Cameron “Todd” Willingham, who was innocent when executed according to legitimate fire forensics experts.

Charlatan dog handler Keith Pikett participated in over Texas 2,000 criminal investigations with his goofy paint cans, and all attempts to date have been to preserve public servants’ self-tarnished reputations, not the rights of the accused to fair trials.

Timothy Cole’s posthumous Texas exoneration proved that it’s the coldest form of comfort imaginable.  Cole’s prison death was preventable – his asthma was easily controlled by inhalers.  Every day that y’all delay addressing having more clouded convictions than any other state puts more families at risk of having only that coldest form of comfort, if any comfort at all … families that pay your wages and provide your benefits, as well as the wages and benefits of those in Washington, D.C. entrusted to ensure the availability of justice, without exception.

Steven Woods’ teenage sons deserve to have their father home.  Please grant Woods clemency immediately.

Amnesty have now created a petition to stop Stevens execution. PLEASE SIGN AND SHARE. Thankyou.

I wonder how the cuban government feels about this situation. Anyone ask?

  3. I take it that you’re asking about Manuel Valle, Sandra. So far as I know, the mainstream media didn’t look into Valle being a foreign national. If Floridians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty made any effort to contact the Cuban government, they didn’t publish anything about it, to my knowledge.

Lord, it’s hard to look at this page knowing that Stephen Woods was executed although innocent. My heart breaks for his family.
